Jubilee Day. This painting is called "Jubilee Day" in recognition of Juneteenth. I was inspired by the celebratory renewal of black emancipation and the strong bond with America’s history, and her yet-to-be-fulfilled promise commensurate with the long suffering of the ancestors. Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19. It is commemorated on the anniversary date of the June 19, 1865 announcement by Union Army General Gordon Granger, proclaiming freedom from slavery in Texas. (LIMITED EDITION - 250).
